Facilitating a Happy And Fulfilled Childhood

1st Seminar in Greece

The Role of the Adult – Residential Seminar Overview

Seminar Price: 260€ including all meals and accommodation

Seminar content

The aim of this seminar is to help practitioners working with children understand some of the core values and concepts that have been at the heart of A.S.Neill’s philosophy and Summerhill School’s practice for a hundred years and engage in a reflective and impactful observation of their practice focusing on healthy relationships, social-emotional well-being and a happy, fulfilled childhood. It also aims to stimulate adults’ resourcefulness and capacity to free children’s emotions and break down barriers restricting their development.

Through presentations, workshops, discussions and teamwork activities we will explore topics such as Freedom not Licence, Independence & Responsibility, Relationships & Sincerity, Expectations & Individuality. By immersing themselves in a warm and friendly atmosphere, participants will probe the practical implications of the above matters within their work setting and age group whilst also broadening their perspective through collaborating with practitioners from different environments.

It will be an 18-hour residential seminar running from Friday 3/9, 19:00 to Sunday 5/9, 18:00 at Rodea Camp, Manesi Forest, Kalavryta. This seminar will be delivered in English, although we will do our best to facilitate some parts of the team work activities and discussions to happen in Greek.

At the end of the seminar, all participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

We are very excited about this event and we are looking forward to meeting you at Rodea Camp and sharing beautiful, relaxed and sincere moments with you all!

During our seminar, there will be 3 accommodation options available.

To book your preferred accommodation you have to fill in the Personal Details Form which we will email to you after you have purchased your ticket to the seminar.

Houses (option 1)

Rodea Camp houses have bunk beds and a hosting capacity ranging from 9 to 20 individuals. However during our seminar, each house will sleep up to 3 people. A few houses will have their own toilets (not all of them) and there are 20 communal toilets and 20 showers in the camp.

If you have friends that are also joining our seminar and with whom you would like to share a house, you can let us know when you fill in the Personal Details Form which we will email to you after you have purchased your ticket to the seminar.

Pre erected tents (option 2)

There are 4 pre-erected tents available and they include a single-bed mattress. The pre-erected tents will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

Bring your own tent (option 3)

There are 7 designated areas available to set up your own tent. These will also be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

If in your Personal Details Form you select one of the 2 tent options but at the time you submit it to us there are no tents or tent spaces available, we will notify you as soon as possible via email or by phone.

Please note that although we will do our best to meet your accommodation requests, we might not be able to achieve this for every person. However, there will definitely be available spaces for all in the houses which, as explained above, during our seminar will sleep up to 3 people.

Breakfast, lunch and supper will be provided during our seminar and are included in the ticket price.

There will also be a canteen if you want to buy snacks and beverages.

To inform us about any specific dietary requirements including food allergies and intolerances you have to fill in the Personal Details Form which we will email to you after you have purchased your ticket to the seminar.

What you need to bring with you

For all accommodation options you need to bring your own towels, toiletries (e.g. soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste etc) pillow and beddings (e.g. bed sheets, pillow cases, duvet/quilt/sleeping bags etc).

Rodea Camp is in a high altitude area and next to Erymanthos mountain range which means temperatures are generally a bit lower than the average at the time. Especially at night the temperature might drop significantly, therefore we would advise that you also bring some warm clothes with you (e.g. long trousers, jacket, jumper etc).

Please also bear in mind that all seminar activities will be delivered outdoors. Although Rodea Camp has several shaded areas that we will be using, we consider you responsible to take any necessary sun protection measures for yourself.
